How do I join a team?

During registration you will be asked if you would like to join or create a team.

How do I get donations?

After registering you will receive a ‘Claim Your Fundraising Page’ email. Follow the instructions to set up your own page and then share that page with your social network. All donations linked to your page will add up to earn fundraising awards and incentives.

Is fundraising linked to the amount of vertical I accumulate?

Not directly. However, you may choose to ask your friends and family for ‘pledges’. Example: “I am getting in shape for ski season and raising money for other kids who need help. Would you give me $10 for every 1,000 feet I hike/bike in September?” At the end of September you report back to your friends and family and they complete the donation on your fundraising page.

What are the rules for the vertical challenges?

You can choose either the hiking or biking or both challenges. Hiking is anything on foot and you can run, climb stairs, hike mountains, etc. Choose the Run activity when recording a Strava workout. Biking can be mountain or road biking but must be human powered (no ebikes or chair lifts). Choose the Ride activity when recording a Strava workout. You must adhere to the https://www.strava.com/community-standards for fairness and safety.

Why are there names on the leaderboard of non-participants?

Anyone can join the Strava Challenges and the Winter Park Competition Center club so non-participants may show up on the leaderboards. Awards and recognition will only go to those who have officially signed up for the Hike & Bike for Spencer and use the same first and last name on their Strava account as they used to register for the event.
